Green World Tea Company
About the house

A tea shop with
long roots, short paperwork.

At Green World Tea Company, our roots run deeper than most. The story of our founder, Abdul Qayyum Patel, is not just the story of a business — it is the story of a family's lifelong love affair with tea, passed down through generations with pride, passion, and purpose.

Tea garden
The founder

Abdul Qayyum Patel.

Tea, in this family, was never a side business. It was the first thing on the stove in the morning and the last thing cleared from the table at night. Growing up, the founder watched leaf graded by hand, kettles swapped between burners, and the colour of the cup judged across a kitchen.

When he opened Green World Tea Company in 2012, none of that changed — we just put a counter in front of it and a sign on the door. The blends are the ones poured at home for decades. The recipes are not written down anywhere. They live in muscle memory and in the noses of the people who stand at the bins.

How we work

Three things we do not compromise on.

Source first.

Every shipment we sell is opened, tasted, and graded in-shop before it touches a bin. If we wouldn't pour it ourselves, it doesn't go on the shelf.

Family, still.

Three generations have stood at this counter. The blends, the scoops, the way we tilt the kettle — all passed down, none of it on a spreadsheet.

Honest weight.

Our scales are calibrated, our prices are flat, and the leaf in the bin is the leaf in your bag. The Hyderabad way of doing business.

How it grew

A short timeline.

01
Before 2012
A kitchen, not a shop

The Patel family poured tea for guests in their Hyderabad home. Word travelled. Neighbours started arriving with empty steel containers.

02
March 2012
Green World Tea Company opens

Founder Abdul Qayyum Patel opens the first storefront on 24 March 2012, putting the family blends behind a counter for the first time.

03
Today
Two stores. Same hands.

We trade out of Panjagutta and Chilkalguda. The blends are the ones the family has always poured. The leaf is graded in front of the customer.

The kettle is on.

Walk into either store and we will pour you a cup before you buy. We have not changed the way we do this in fourteen years.
